With the help of a castle guide you can walk the corridors of time. Follow the history of Ireland and Claregalway Castle from Norman times through to it's current restoration.
The steep spiral stairs are worth the effort, views over the Galway countryside alone with the River Clare slipping past the castle walls. Marvel at the woodwork of the great hall roof, and at the stonework that has stood against time, wars, floods and strife for more nearly 600 years.
The castle can be visited with a guide from Thursday-Sunday, 12-4 pm, April-October.
Prices € 6 pp; €4 per child, student, concession.
